The things they say...

It's officially summertime! Plenty has been going on around here, including: The last day of school (only Ace's preschool graduation got recorded with pictures...they might find their way on to this blog); the final Lacrosse games this season (none of which got recorded with pictures); Jake (with Uncle John's help) trying to dye his hair orange (with Kool-aid) to play Ron Weasley in a school play (Aunt Jessica luckily was on hand to take pictures...again, they might find their way to this blog); and most importantly Joseph's baptism! (I had every intention of recording THIS event with pictures. The camera made it to the baptism, unfortunately the camera BATTERY did not. Grandma and the primary president took a couple of shots...as soon as I get some copies, they WILL find their way to this blog!)

So until then...I'll leave you with a few gems from my kiddos the last few weeks:

Joseph: "Hey Mom? What is mustard made out of?"
Mom: "It is made out of mustard seed."
Joseph: "Where does mustard seed come from?"
Mom: "It comes from a plant."
Joseph: "Ewwww. That's gross! Who would EVER eat a plant?!?!"
Drew (looking at his brother in disbelief): "Joey, you have TOTALLY missed the point of food."
(Editor's note: Joey has seemingly made it his life-long mission to not eat ANYTHING that comes from a plant--so far he is succeeding.)

Drew, who almost NEVER sleeps, has a bit of a Pavlovian (real word?) response to Sacrament Meeting. About halfway through, his head falls back, his mouth springs open, and he starts to snore...
Jason and I were asked to speak in Church last week and Sunday morning I said to Drew: "Hey, if you fall asleep while I'm talking, I might tell you to wake up over the pulpit. Would that embarrass you?"
Drew (with a ginormous smile on his face): "Nope! Not at all! It sounds like it would probably embarrass you a lot more than it would embarrass me."
(Editor's note: He stayed awake...for the first time this year. Mom-1, the rest of the speakers this year-0)

Jake was getting something out of the cupboard yesterday when a heavy glass cup fell (and broke--ouch!) on his noggin! (don't worry--everyone is okay!) Upon witnessing this, Jesse said: "Wow Jake! You must have a really hard head! On "World's Dumbest Partiers" (a real show?), people are trying to break bottles on their heads all the time, and it almost NEVER works!"
(Editor's note: WHAT are my kids watching on T.V.?)

The other morning Alex Ace was telling me how many kids he is going to have when he grows up. It varies...sometimes it's 53, sometimes it's only 12 or so. (He LOVES babies!). A few days ago, he settled on 9. (He first said 8, but he agreed to give me 1, so he had to raise his number...)  Drew walked in the room while we were talking, so I asked him how many kids HE was planning on having. Without missing a beat he said: "Two.     Twins.       A boy and a girl.       Diego and Susan."
(Editor's note: Apparently he has given this some thought. I can't wait to meet little Diego and little Susan! Heehee!)

One of Lolli's favorite things to do is go to the pantry and search for food. The girl loves to eat. Her favorite treat is raisins. She finds the canister all the time, rips off the top with her teeth, and chows down. (See pictures below.) I was trying to convince my boys (all raisin haters) with my best mom-logic that raisins MUST be good, because Baby hasn't been swayed by society to think certain foods are gross, she just eats what really tastes good. With that, Jesse looked at me and stated quite matter-of-factly: "Whatever Mom. We have caught her eating dog food....more than once."
(Editor's note: Touche Jesse. Touche.)

(Editor's note: He threw the raisins away when she wasn't looking...she is easily offended.)
