The royal festivities!

Alex Ace turned 6 on Wednesday. If you've read any of my previous birthday posts, you know just how little fanfare usually goes into birthdays around here...but just to keep my kids guessing, I decided to go all out! (Actually, the credit blame should go to my sister Mandy! You know how everyone has a "fun aunt"--Aunt Mandy is the party queen! When I called her and casually asked if she had any ideas for a cute party, she started throwing ideas at me faster than I could think to myself, "wait...do I actually want to DO this?!") Before I knew it we were in full-on party-planning mode. Per Mandy's suggestion, Ace decided he wanted a Knight and Princess Party (I think mostly so his baby sister/"the most important person on the planet" could dress up like a princess!).
I called my friend Kendalyn who runs the awesome Princess/Pirate Parties and it turned out she knew a real knight who happened to be available! The rest is history (and luckily for all of you--recorded for posterity with over 100 pictures. Here are some a lot of the many. Only scroll down if you have some time to kill.)

The Handsome King!

The loyal Knights!

The Royal Court

The Ladylike Princess!

The following pictures are to be used as photographic evidence the next time my kids accuse me of being a lame mom. (which of course they would NEVER do!)

Ace wanted a cool castle cake...
I learned an important lesson: Just because you WATCH cake decorating shows does not mean you are a cake decorator! Those shows should have a "do not attempt this at home" warning!

The very special Princess Eliza showed up and joined in the festivities! (Princess Dayvis made her the crown!)

A royal time was had by all...the king at least seemed rather pleased!!

Oh, and yes...we did slay the dragon!
