Small snippets

In the last few months I have started many brilliant (okay, not so brilliant) blog posts--and somehow haven't found the time to complete any of them. So instead, you are just going to get a short bullet list.
  • Jason turned 40. I managed to throw him a surprise (okay, not so much a surprise) party. Lessons learned: Trying to pull off any surprise for a husband who works from home is not a great idea; he is very loved (thank you to EVERYONE who submitted amazing letters); and he is still as handsome and amazing as the day I met him.
  • I got the kids pictures taken (also as a surprise) for said birthday. Lessons learned: I cannot keep a secret (I ended up showing him the pictures the day they were taken); I shouldn't schedule ANYTHING when Sophie should be sleeping (she was a monster and completely uncooperative!); and if I wasn't so computer illiterate you might get to see the pictures! (I'm still working on it...stay tuned)
  • We still have a strict one-sport-at-a-time rule for each boy. Lessons learned: When you have 5 boys, that is STILL a lot of games; everything goes out the window once they hit high school! (At one point Jesse was playing High School Lacrosse, doing workouts with the Football team, and playing on 3 different basketball teams; the first time you hear your sons name over the loud speaker at the high school ("And there's Jesse Mitchell with the ball....") it's kind of a big deal. :)
  • Sophie is doing everything she can to EARN the nickname "Demon Baby". Lessons learned: There is not a spot high enough in our house for markers or make-up; girls are just as possibly more destructive than boys; she is so cute that most of the time we don't care.
That's it. Things are fairly mundane around here...which, in addition to my laziness, is also the reason I haven't blogged in a while. I'll tell the kids to step up the craziness a notch, and maybe I can give you something more interesting next time (I'm sure Sophie is working on it as I type...)
