- I decided to weigh myself on Monday. For the first time in nearly a year. And only because NOTHING fit on Sunday (Sunday morning was NOT good--not counting that in the week!). The number on the scale was a rude-awakening (I'm also not counting Monday morning). I'm at my all-time high, including the first two weeks postpartum with all 6 children and I'm dangerously close to my delivery weight with the first 4 (so apparently I can't blame my children). I decided that it was finally time to do something about it! I've started logging everything I eat on DietPower (a computer program that has worked for me in the past), and eating small meals every few hours. I've been keeping my calories fairly low and focusing on good choices--high protein, low carbs, lots of veggies, and lots of water. I'm pleased to say that in 4 days, I've lost 3 1/2 pounds. I realize it's not going to keep coming off that fast, but it's a start.
- One reason I'm happy about those 3.5 pounds: I decided I needed something to keep me motivated, so I asked Jason if he would shave off his beard if I lost 5 pounds! Just to be clear, Jason sincerely seems fine with my weight. In fact, I'm kind of convinced he prefers me this way (let's just say, I'm not lacking in the curves department!). But seeing as I have zero to no willpower, I decided I needed to reward myself with something I really wanted! He agreed pretty easily. He either wants to shave anyway...or has little faith that I will actually lose the weight. He clearly doesn't realize how badly I want that beard gone. So now I just need to come up with something to help me get to 10 pounds (and 15....and....20....okay, I'd rather not think about that right now.)
- I cleaned Sophie's room. (Yes, it's worth blogging about.) I tried to upload the before and after pictures I took on my phone, but it's not working. It was bad. REALLY bad. If you don't believe me, call any one of my sisters or Nikki Williams (who I texted the pictures to.) My sisters were shocked, and they've seen my house, so that should tell you something!
- I did at least 8 loads of laundry. AND I FOLDED IT!
- Sophie had several playdates. She is quite the social butterfly, and has the cutest 2-year-old girlfriends. She had such a good week.
- I was awake early enough to make Jesse breakfast TWO whole days this week (he only had school 4 days--that's a whoppin 50%). I'm expecting a shiny medal in the mail any day now.
- The boys all have straight As...because the new semester just started 4 days ago. (I'll take what I can get around here.)
- We had family scriptures/prayer like 4 days IN A ROW. Yes, I'm bragging and I don't care. Don't worry, this is not going to turn into one of THOSE blogs....
- I was a good mom today and took the 4 little kids and a few friends to Classic Fun Center (oh yeah, 80's retro/ghetto!) It was awesome! The boys were in heaven, and when Sophie's attention span started to wane after a couple of hours--we were lucky enough to discover a vending machine full of mini plastic Care Bears! She really wanted a blue one. Don't worry, we got it on the 14 try. (I wish I was kidding.) She is so lucky that I don't count the change I find in the bottom of my purse/garbage bag as real money.
| She's been lining them up and sorting them for hours--it might turn out to be the best money I've ever spent. |
That's it. You thought (based on the blog title) that there was going to be more, right? I think that's what made this week so good...nothing special or out of the ordinary (besides the monumental weight loss), just normal family stuff. Normal family stuff is totally my favorite kind of stuff. :)
