In the past few weeks, there HAVE been some interesting, funny, and/or noteworthy things that have happened (the kids did head back to school after all).... BUT being the awesome and organized mom I am--NONE of it got recorded for posterity with an actual PHOTO of the event! It looks like once again, I'm out of the running for Mother of the Year! Drat!
Here are a few things I WISH I had a picture of (along with the reason I don't):
1. The boys first day of school--heck, I'd even settle for the 2nd day (I actually managed to grab the camera on the way out of the house, only to realize once we got to school that there was no memory card in it!!) For the record--they looked great. Clean, happy, hair combed, clothes ironed. (Have to mention that because it will probably be the only time this year I can say that about everyone!)
Here are a few things I WISH I had a picture of (along with the reason I don't):
2. The day after school started, Alex CHEERFULLY called from the baby's room (about 10 min. after I had put her down for a nap), "Mom! She's awake!! Cutie Pie is awake!!" When I walked in I realized why--he was in her crib hugging her and singing at the top of his lungs, to a tune by Edvard Grieg no less (thank you Little Einsteins) the following song:
(Peer Gynt--"Hall of the Mountain King" if you want to sing along!)
"Cutie, cutie, little pie, little pie, little pie... Cutie, little little pie, you are a cutie pie!"
I grabbed the camera this time as well--only to realize that the battery was dead! I actually thought I might stage it later--but...who has time for that?!
3. Another trip to the zoo. This time instead of Grandma losing Alex's shoe--she decided to one-up herself and lose Alex himself! Actually, I guess we don't really want or need pictures of this day! By the way, he was fine--he found a zoo employee and was surprisingly not panicked at all. Mom--if you are reading this...no hard feelings!! I promise! But, I HAD to mention it!
4. Yesterday, I put Sophie in the sling and decided she was big enough to try a different position besides the simple cradling. We decided to try out the "kangaroo hold"--which means I put her in the sling bum first facing outward. This means that her feet were pretty darn close to her head--I know it sounds super uncomfortable in theory, but she loved it and actually looked pretty cozy. Her favorite part??? Her feet were close enough to stick in her mouth!! It was adorable! Since Alex was the only other person home--I asked him to take a picture. Well--let's just say that he probably doesn't have a future career ahead of him in photography. Here are the best shots!
5. The best of the rest (a bunch of things I REALLY wish I had pictures of!): A trip to St. George, seeing ALL of the cousins, the new babies (Kira, Lolli, and Micah) together for the first time, Lolli getting more adorable every day--if that's possible, Alex heading to preschool, boys' first football game, etc. etc. etc.
Oh well--here's to hoping that I'm more on top of things in September! Don't hold your breath!

LOL! This was a dang good post. Both you and Alicia are hilarious.
PS. I have pictures of the zoo if you want any, JK! :)
He He! I can just hear Alex singing to Sophie at the top of his lungs! Hillarious!
